International Affairs Fellowship in Canada 2027–28

The International Affairs Fellowship in Canada is a competitively selected professional fellowship for mid-career U.S. professionals focused on foreign policy and U.S.-Canada relations. Selected fellows spend six to twelve months at a Canadian host institution while developing a project related to the bilateral relationship. The program provides a stipend (up to $110,000 for a 12-month placement, prorated for shorter terms) and a modest travel allowance, and CFR assists fellows in identifying suitable Canadian host organizations. Fellows are expected to work on-site in Canada full time (at least four days per week) and are considered independent contractors rather than CFR employees.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, mid-career professionals with a strong record of professional achievement, hold at least a bachelor's degree, and possess a U.S. passport valid for at least six months beyond the fellowship end date.
