Information

Mechanical Technician for CMS are early-career, paid technical positions within the CMS experiment at CERN. The roles involve hands-on mechanical work such as assembly, refurbishment and installation of detector components, tooling development, and participation in heavy-lifting and maintenance operations. One position supports the Electromagnetic Calorimeter (ECAL) refurbishment while the other supports CMS Technical Coordination activities. Contracts may be extendable up to 36 months and include training and language classes.

Benefits

Eligibility

Applicants must be nationals of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State (certain nationalities are excluded). By the application deadline they must have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation in a technical or administrative field, their highest educational qualification must be a general secondary education diploma or a shorter non-university degree, they must not hold a bachelor’s, master’s degree or PhD, and must never have had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
