Holdstock-Piachaud Student Essay Prize 2025

The Holdstock-Piachaud Student Essay Prize invites student entrants to submit essays exploring issues relevant to the aims of the Medicine, Conflict and Survival journal. The prize seeks insights and original perspectives drawing on relevant literature and the entrant's own experience, with a focus on themes related to global health, conflict, and related policy challenges. Prizes are awarded to top entrants, and winners may receive additional opportunities associated with the journal for a period of one year.

First prize: £500; Three second prizes: £300. Winners receive a year’s subscription to Medicine, Conflict and Survival and may be invited to serve as a student representative on the MCS editorial board for a year.

Open to all students, including those completing their studies in 2024.
