The Fulbright Predoctoral Research Scholarships (General Call) are awards for Spanish doctoral candidates to undertake predoctoral research projects in the United States. Scholarships are for a continuous period of 6 to 12 months and include travel, installation and a monthly allowance to cover accommodation, living expenses and project costs. Awardees receive support from the binational Fulbright Commission and partner US institutions, including visa assistance and compulsory insurance coverage.

Eligibility

Applicants must be Spanish nationals with fiscal residence in Spain, be enrolled in a doctoral programme at a Spanish university, have completed at least the first year of the doctorate with an approved research plan and a positive first-year evaluation, and must not hold dual Spanish–US nationality or US residence. English proficiency must be accredited by an accepted test (Duolingo, TOEFL, TOEFL Essentials or IELTS) with scores and validity rules as specified.
