Longitudinal population studies strategic prioritisation exercise

Grant
UK Research and Innovation (Medical Research Council) United Kingdom · Online 2026

Information

The Longitudinal population studies strategic prioritisation exercise invites existing biomedical longitudinal population studies (LPS) to submit information to inform Medical Research Council (MRC) planning for future investments in LPS infrastructure. Submissions will be used to prioritise options for MRC investment over a nominal ten-year period (2029–2039) and to inform the design of future funding opportunities. The exercise will not directly result in funding but will shape possible future support and funding mechanisms. Submissions should describe how the LPS enables biomedical research and why MRC support would be necessary.

Benefits

Participation will inform MRC priority-setting and the design of future funding and support mechanisms for longitudinal population studies; it may make an LPS eligible for future MRC support based on those priorities.

Eligibility

Applicants must be a researcher employed by an eligible UK research organisation and must lead an existing biomedical longitudinal population study (LPS). International organisations are not eligible to apply as project lead, though international researchers can be included as project co-leads and overseas LPS previously supported by MRC may be in scope where a UK organisation can lead.
