Doctoral focal award: UKRI venture doctorates (outline stage)

The Doctoral focal award: UKRI venture doctorates is a funding opportunity to support organisations to deliver entrepreneurship-focused doctoral training. The awards will fund venture doctoral focal awards that combine academically rigorous research with experiential learning in entrepreneurship and venture creation. UKRI has allocated £25 million and expects to fund one to three awards.

Grant funding to deliver entrepreneurship-focused doctoral training; funding covers 100% of eligible project costs (excluding estates and indirect costs); up to one to three awards from a £25 million budget.

Applications can be led by organisations eligible for standard UKRI funding or by businesses, social enterprises and other organisations accepted for non-standard eligibility before an award is made. Eligible lead organisations include higher education institutions, research council institutes, eligible independent research organisations, Catapult centres and public sector research establishments. Organisations can only lead one application but may collaborate on others; collaborating organisations, subcontractors and project partners have defined roles and eligibility requirements.

Submit an expression of interest by the stated deadline, followed by outline and then full application stages; applications are submitted by the lead organisation via UKRI's funding service.
