Utilizing the Full Power of Empire AI — Request for Applications

The Simons Foundation invites proposals for a two-year research program leveraging Empire AI’s computing power to advance fundamental mathematics and basic science. Applicants must outline a fully funded research plan in fields including computational astrophysics, computational biology, mathematics, neuroscience, or computational physical chemistry, detailing use of multinode GPUs and Empire AI resources. The program aims to fund a limited number of high-impact proposals with a total budget around $6 million USD over two years.

Financial support for research activities and personnel, access to Empire AI computing resources, and administrative support for grant administration.

Proposals must be led by a Principal Investigator with a tenure-track or tenured faculty position at an Empire AI consortium member institution and all applicants and key collaborators must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree and have a faculty or equivalent research position.

Submit a full application via Simons Award Manager by 12 p.m. Eastern Time on December 1, 2026; applications reviewed by SF scientific staff and an expert review committee.
