Information

The Simons Early Career Investigator in Aquatic Microbial Ecology and Evolution Awards provide support for early-career investigators working on microbial ecology, microbial biogeochemistry, or microbial evolution in marine or natural freshwater systems. Applicants must focus a substantial portion of their lab’s effort in these areas and address fundamental questions through field work, experiments, modeling or theory. Subfields such as microbiomes of animals or plants, or coral biology are out of scope for this program. The submission process involves a letter of intent followed by a full proposal for finalists, with specific deadlines outlined by the foundation.

Eligibility

Open to outstanding investigators in microbial ecology and evolution launching their independent research programs.

Application

Submit a letter of intent by the LOI deadline via the Simons Award Manager (SAM); finalists are invited to submit a full proposal.
