PhD Fellowships for Health Professionals

PhD Fellowships for Health Professionals are cohort-based doctoral training programmes based at centres of excellence across the UK that provide research training for registered health professionals. Fellowships support a three-year (full-time equivalent) PhD with salary, home-rate PhD registration fees, research expenses and training costs. Individual programmes may offer additional pre- or post-PhD support and some allow part-time study. Applicants must join one of the recruiting university programmes and follow that programme’s application process.

Salary, PhD registration fees at UK home rate, college fees (where required), research expenses, essential travel costs (including registration and childcare), and training costs.

Open to registered health professionals who have demonstrated potential to pursue a career as an academic health professional; individual programmes list their own eligibility and suitability criteria. Applicants must undertake the PhD within one of the listed UK-based programmes.
