The UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize honors a person, organization or institution that has made an outstanding contribution to the defence or promotion of press freedom worldwide. The prize includes a monetary award and a certificate, awarded annually by UNESCO on World Press Freedom Day. Nominations are invited from candidates who have demonstrated significant contributions to press freedom across all media, including digital media.

Eligibility

Candidates shall have made a significant contribution to press freedom anywhere in the world, representing all types of media including digital media.
