VSA Playwright Discovery Competition

The VSA Playwright Discovery Competition is a contest for young writers with disabilities to submit a ten-minute script, either individually or as a collaboration of two high-school students (with at least one student with a disability). Winners are chosen by a panel of theater professionals. Winners receive a monetary prize and access to professional development activities.

$3,000 prize for winners and exclusive access to professional development activities.

Open to young writers with disabilities, generally ages 14-19, who are enrolled in high school. Co-authored entries are accepted if both writers are enrolled in high school and at least one has a disability. International applicants are welcome; all materials must be in English or ASL.

Submit a ten-minute script by January 7 at 11:59 pm ET. Entries may be submitted as traditional text, video, or audio. Co-authored entries must have both writers enrolled in high school; at least one author must have a disability. Materials must be in English or ASL.
