Biomimicry Youth Design Challenge 2025

The Biomimicry Youth Design Challenge (BYDC) is a free, hands-on, project-based learning experience for middle and high school students. Teams, guided by an adult coach and subject-matter experts, explore nature-inspired solutions to local or global problems and submit final projects to an online exhibition with prizes. The challenge emphasizes applying biomimicry to address Sustainable Development Goals and advancing science and environmental literacy.

Final projects may be entered for online exhibition and awarded prizes; guidance from coaches and subject-matter experts.

Open to middle and high school students (US equivalent grades 6th-12th). Teams must be affiliated with a public or private school, registered homeschool, or a recognized organization; at least one adult coach is required.

Coaches register their teams online.
