Information

The Community College Initiative Program (CCIP) is a U.S. Department of State exchange program that provides a one-year non-degree academic and personal development experience at a U.S. community college. The program focuses on academics, cultural exchange, service learning, internships, and leadership and community impact projects, and includes visa support, travel, tuition, housing, and a stipend. It is designed for participants to develop technical skills in applied fields and to enhance leadership and English proficiency, with an emphasis on returning home to contribute to their communities.

Benefits

J-1 visa support, round-trip travel, tuition and fees, housing, stipend, books/materials allowance, limited insurance, and development activities.

Eligibility

Citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of South Africa who reside in South Africa, 18 years or older by July 1, 2025, with a secondary school diploma or equivalent, and demonstrated commitment to their field of study.
