Peter Gilgan Canada Gairdner Momentum Award

The Peter Gilgan Canada Gairdner Momentum Award recognizes two mid-career investigators working in Canada who in their last six active years have produced exceptional scientific research contributions with continued potential for impact on human health. The award is open to researchers across all areas of health research including discovery, clinical, global health, population science and translational research. Nominations (including self-nomination) are submitted and evaluated through a two-stage process. Two awards are given each year and awards cannot be shared.

Mid-career researchers working in Canada, typically 10–15 years past their first independent research appointment, who in their last six active years have produced exceptional scientific research contributions with potential impact on human health. Candidates can self-nominate or be nominated by others.

Two-stage nomination process. Initial submissions via nomination form (self-nomination permitted); shortlisted applicants progress to a second stage and are notified by August 15.
