Information

The Ingalls Field Ecology Program is a summer field ecology internship hosted by the Yale School of the Environment based at the Yale-Myers Forest camp. Undergraduate interns are matched with faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students to work on active field ecology research projects, collecting and/or analyzing ecological data and gaining practical outdoor research skills. The program provides bunkhouse housing and a stipend and runs as a cohorted residential summer program in New England. Participants work in teams and receive mentorship while engaging in field-based experiments and long-term ecological studies.

Benefits

Stipend ($6,000 for 2026, with $500 for food), free bunkhouse housing, weekday meals (for a modest cost), hands-on field research experience, mentorship from faculty and researchers.

Eligibility

Open to current undergraduate students and those graduating in May 2026. Applicants must be enrolled at a U.S. college or university, or be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident; the program cannot provide visa support for international students not enrolled at a U.S. university.

Application

Apply via the online application form; applicants may seek concurrent summer funding from their home institution and should contact the program for support and letters of recommendation.
