SSRC Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Fellowship 2025

The Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Fellowship supports PhD students developing a doctoral dissertation proposal and recent master’s graduates planning to enroll in a PhD program. It funds short-term research costs to develop the proposal and includes participation in a broader network focused on peacebuilding, security, and development in Africa, with mentorship and professional development opportunities.

Funding for research costs up to US$3,000, mentorship from senior scholars, and opportunities for professional development and networking.

Applicants must be citizens of any African country, be enrolled or intend to enroll toward a PhD, and hold a master’s degree at the time of application.
