BAEF Fellowships

The BAEF Fellowships provide competitive funding for talented Belgian students and researchers to pursue graduate study or research in the United States. Graduate Fellowships support two-year master's degree programmes, while Research Fellowships fund a non-credit research year at a U.S. institution. The programme awards more than 65 fellowships annually and is administered by the Belgian American Educational Foundation.

Monetary fellowship stipend (amounts vary by fellowship type), health insurance for Research Fellows, and support to pursue study or research at a U.S. university or research center.

Applicants must hold Belgian nationality and demonstrate outstanding academic achievement. Graduate Fellowship applicants must have earned a bachelor's degree prior to activating the fellowship, apply to a two-year master's program in the United States, submit official transcripts, demonstrate English proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS) and submit GRE or equivalent scores. Research Fellowship applicants must hold a bachelor's degree, have completed no more than one year of a master's by July 1, plan a non-credit research gap year at a U.S. institution, and obtain an official invitation from a U.S. host institution.

Apply for admission to eligible U.S. universities or research institutions, complete the BAEF fellowship application, and submit required transcripts, language test scores, GRE (for Graduate Fellows) and an official host invitation (for Research Fellows) by the deadline.
