Jazz at the Ballroom Scholarship

The Jazz at the Ballroom Scholarship awards monetary prizes and performance opportunities to high school jazz instrumentalists in California. Each year a panel of professional jazz musicians selects finalists and winners based on submitted recordings and statements. Winners receive cash awards to further their jazz education and are hired to perform at JATB events. All applicants are invited to free concerts and workshops during the school year.

Cash awards (winners receive $500 each; total award value $1,000 per finalist), paid performance engagements at JATB events, invitations to free concerts and workshops.

Open to high school jazz instrumentalists who are enrolled in a California high school, aged 14-18, and legal residents of the United States or its official territories.

Complete the entry form on the JATB website, submit a personal statement, and include a recording (audio or video) of two audition pieces (one ballad and one contrasting piece) with a one-paragraph background statement.
