Student Research Assistant Positions at the Max Planck Institute for Political and Social Science

The Max Planck Institute for Political and Social Science is offering two student research assistant positions in Göttingen, Germany. The roles involve supporting research activities and data analysis in the Department of Inequality, Transformation, and Conflict, with an emphasis on quantitative methods and usage of Stata or R. The positions run from 1 December 2026 to 30 November 2028 and are paid on an hourly basis with possible higher rates for candidates holding a bachelor’s degree.

Hourly wage and practical research experience in a leading academic environment

Open to students studying sociology, political science, economics and related subjects; candidates should have very good knowledge of quantitative methods and be proficient with Stata or R; good command of English and German.
