Invitation Program for Expert in Performing Arts in 2025

The Invitation Program for Expert in Performing Arts is a short exchange programme under the WA Project 2.0 in which students from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Surakarta, visit Okinawa for cultural exchange with students of Ryukyuan performing arts. The programme includes lecture-demonstrations, workshops (including Ryukyu Buyo × Javanese dance), studio visits, and performances led by established Ryukyuan artists and Bingata artisans. It aims to deepen mutual understanding of traditional performing arts and foster future custodians of traditional culture through practical, cross-cultural learning experiences.

Participation in workshops, lecture-demonstrations, studio visits, joint rehearsals and performances; opportunities to learn Bingata techniques and Ryukyuan performing arts; meetings with Living National Treasures and leading practitioners.

Students from the Department of Dance at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Surakarta (10 students invited).
