Request for Proposals: Causal Research on the Criminal Justice System

The Request for Proposals solicits research projects that use causal methods to study the criminal justice system. Topics of interest include sentencing policy, post-prison outcomes, effects of social policy on community safety, crime and victimization, decision-making and disparities, policing, courts, and criminal processing. Proposals may examine effects for both adults and juveniles and relate to the Foundation’s core priority areas including race, ethnicity, immigration, inequality, and behavioral science.

Applicants should submit proposals through the Russell Sage Foundation grant portal or the Foundation's online application system.
