Visiting Fellows

The Visiting Fellows programme supports established or leading researchers for guest stays at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin (including BIH and DHZC) or at the Max-Delbrück-Centrum (MDC) to develop and implement larger research projects together with local hosts. The programme offers three tracks (A–C) ranging from idea development to funding of a fellow plus an associated research group and pilot or full project implementation. Fellowships may include mentoring of early-career researchers and aim to seed new research foci and prepare sustained, third-party funded collaborations. Fellows may use the designation "Visiting Fellow, funded by Stiftung Charité" and can, where applicable, be integrated as guest professors according to local regulations.

Financial support for fellow and, depending on track, start-up and personnel funds for an associated research group; opportunity for mentoring, integration as guest professor where applicable; use of the title "Visiting Fellow, gefördert durch die Stiftung Charité".

The programme is open to established or leading researchers (career stages R3 – Established Researcher and R4 – Leading Researcher) at universities, research institutes and research-active companies who come from abroad or from other locations in Germany to work with hosts at Charité or MDC.

Applications are submitted for a specific track and are evaluated according to programme criteria; an online portal is provided for application submission.
