ASLA-Fulbright Research Grants for Senior Scholars

The ASLA-Fulbright Research Grants for Senior Scholars fund Finnish senior scholars to carry out research projects of 3–12 months at U.S. universities or research institutions. Grants may support research-only stays or a combination of research and teaching. The programme is co-funded by the Fulbright Finland Foundation and the applicant’s home university and requires home university approval and participation in the cost-share scheme. Grantees travel on a Fulbright J-1 exchange visa and participate in Fulbright orientation and enrichment activities.

Monthly grant (up to USD 5,000/month, max USD 30,000 for 6 months), J-1 visa and J-2 for dependents, orientation training, personal advising, networking and Fulbright enrichment activities; extra support available for grantees with disabilities.

Applicants must be Finnish senior scholars who earned a doctoral degree at least four years prior to the application deadline and hold a position at a university participating in the cost-share programme. Home university approval and participation in the cost-share arrangement are required; recipients travel on a J-1 visa.

Applicants submit an online application (IIE application form) and obtain home university approval and cost-share commitment; letters of recommendation and project budget are required.
