Fulbright Israel Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Fulbright Israel Postdoctoral Fellowship awards grants to postdoctoral scholars to conduct a program of research at an accredited university or non-profit research institute in the United States during the 2027/28 academic year. The program is open to researchers in all fields of study except programs that include clinical activities involving direct patient care. Grant recipients must secure an institutional affiliation in the United States and meet Fulbright and visa requirements prior to activation of the grant. Selected fellows must depart for the United States by November 1, 2027.

$60,000 award; basic health insurance for grantee; J1/J2 visa administration; pre-departure orientation; U.S. support agency assistance

Candidates must be Israeli citizens, have an approved PhD (proof required at least one month prior to grant start), and be within three years of receiving their doctorate. Holders of tenured or tenure-track positions, persons who began projects in the U.S. before August 2027, and certain prior J-visa holders subject to SEVIS bars are ineligible.

Applicants apply via the IIE online application portal and must arrange their own institutional affiliation in the U.S.; finalists must be present in Israel for interviews and meet residency requirements prior to departure.
