Rosetrees Major Project Awards

The Rosetrees Major Project Awards are competitive project grants to support innovative and translational research projects with an established proof-of-concept, aiming to develop towards clinical translation and target unmet clinical needs in the UK. Awards fund more advanced translational research expected to deliver patient benefits within 5–10 years after completion of the grant. Funding may support salaries (post-doctoral research associates, technicians, research assistants), research consumables, sequencing, animal costs and other operational expenses; large capital equipment may not be the primary purpose of the grant.

Up to £210,000 over 3 years (capped at £70,000 per year); may fund salaries (post-doctoral research associates, research technicians, research assistants), research consumables, sequencing, animal costs, access costs and small equipment in exceptional cases.

The principal applicant must usually hold a tenured post or be able to demonstrate they will have a salary for the lifetime of the grant and must be a researcher holding a PhD (or equivalent) with a track record of managing grants, delivering research studies and a strong publication record. Applications are submitted in two phases: a preliminary application for triage and then a full application by shortlisted applicants.

Two-phase process: submit a preliminary application for triage; shortlisted applicants are invited to submit a full application which is externally peer reviewed. Applications are made through Flexigrant.
