Excellence in Mentoring Award

The Excellence in Mentoring Award recognizes outstanding mentorship within the earthquake science community that has advanced the Seismological Society of America (SSA) mission of advancing earthquake science worldwide. The award is presented annually to a single individual (not organizations) whose mentoring efforts clearly exceed what is normally expected for their role. Nominees may be at any career stage and the award seeks contributions that support learning, development, broadening participation, and lasting mentoring impact in seismology and earthquake engineering.

Recognition by the Seismological Society of America; award presented to a single individual.

Open to all SSA members except members, member-elects, or officers of the SSA Board of Directors at the time of the nomination deadline. The award is given to a single individual who must be a regular or honorary member in good standing, including student and early-career members.

Nominations submitted by an eligible SSA member via email to awards@seismosoc.org with a nomination letter (≤2 pages), CV/resume, and 2–4 support letters (≤2 pages each); include a signed nominator disclosure form and any supporting documentation of impact.
