Information
The Young Mayors Program is a cohort-based youth civic leadership programme that places elected young people on local Youth Councils to run projects, campaigns and influence local government decisions. Participants receive training, guidance, induction, a curriculum and access to resources, and are supported by a staff member in their council area. Youth Councils typically serve a 12-24 month term and are supported to implement locally-decided priorities. The program is delivered in partnership with Local Councils and Electoral Commissions and includes wellbeing and safeguarding measures for participants.
