Sonderprogramm „Sicherheit, Gesellschaft und Staat“

Grant
Gerda Henkel Stiftung Worldwide 2026

Information

The Sonderprogramm „Sicherheit, Gesellschaft und Staat“ is a Gerda Henkel Foundation special programme funding research on security, statehood and society after the Cold War. It supports research projects and awards research stipends, encouraging younger scholars to pursue unconventional questions and enabling experienced researchers to work intensively on a research question for a limited time. Projects should address one or more of the programme's thematic fields, including technological challenges to security, public administration and human security, and state–actor conflict resolution patterns.

Benefits

Research stipends and project funding to support research activities (including doctoral stipends only when embedded in a project).

Eligibility

The programme is aimed at scholars in the humanities and social sciences. Funding may be requested for research stipends and for the conduct of research projects; doctoral (PhD) stipends are granted only when embedded in a research project. Both younger researchers and experienced researchers may apply.

Application

Applications are decided by the Foundation's board (Kuratorium) on the basis of recommendations from international peer reviewers.
