Francqui Prize

The Francqui Prize is a prestigious Belgian prize awarded annually to outstanding researchers to stimulate groundbreaking research and interdisciplinary collaboration. It rotates between the Human Sciences, the Biological and Medical Sciences, and the Exact Sciences. The prize includes a monetary award designated partly for the laureate personally and partly to fund research through the laureate's university or research institute. Candidates are nominated and evaluated by a high-level international jury and the Board of Directors of the Francqui Foundation.

Monetary prize totaling €250,000 (€50,000 personal; remainder for research funding), high-level recognition and prestige, award ceremony involving the Belgian King, evaluation by an international jury.

Candidates must be under 50 years of age. Candidates are nominated (not self-nominated) by two members of a Royal Belgian Academy from the same discipline as the proposed candidate or by a former Prize laureate.

Candidates must be proposed by eligible sponsors; an electronic submission in English must be sent by email to secretariat@francquifoundation.be by the 15th of October and include specified documents (biographical details, summary, justification, CV, publications list, bibliometrics, up to 20 publications). Files may be shared via Dropbox/SwissTransfer or delivered on USB if necessary.
