Francqui Chair

The Francqui Chair is a visiting chair awarded annually by the Francqui Foundation to invite a professor from another university to teach a short cycle of lectures (ten hours, including an inaugural lesson). The Chair aims to encourage collaboration and exchanges between universities, enhance academic environments and interdisciplinary research, and reinforce university reputations. Lectures are given during the academic year and cannot be postponed to the next academic year.

A fee of €6,000 paid to the chairholder for ten teaching hours (distribution of hours at the professor's convenience).

On proposal of the universities, the Francqui Chair is awarded to a professor from another university (typically Belgian; one chair per complete university may be awarded to a foreign personality attached to a foreign institution). Institutions which are not complete universities have a limited number of Chairs and must respect an April 15 deadline for applications.

Universities propose candidates and must submit electronically a full CV including date and place of birth, a list of publications, and up to 10 keywords describing the research domain.
