Researcher Program

The Researcher Program is a Fulbright Japan fellowship for established researchers and faculty to conduct research at U.S. institutions. It is intended for scholars who will not be seeking a degree and who can present specialized expertise in their field. Typical stays begin between 2027-09-01 and 2028-04-01 and the planned duration is approximately 3–9 months.

Open to Japanese nationals who are research scholars, professors, or hold specialized professional positions at universities or government institutions; applicants must not be seeking a degree. Applicants must have sufficient English ability to conduct research in the U.S. Certain categories such as doctoral candidates and applicants whose dissertation research is the purpose are excluded.
