Information

The Writing Residency at Rissholmen is a one-week residency for a single participant on the uninhabited island of Rissholmen in the outer archipelago of Bohuslän. It is aimed at natural scientists and photographers and offers a secluded environment for concentrated work and documentation of the natural environment. Two residency periods are offered in 2026 (one in spring, one in autumn), and the resident selects preferred dates within the chosen period. Transportation to and from the island on arrival and departure and essential logistics for the stay are provided.

Benefits

SEK 10,000 grant; transportation to/from Rissholmen and essential on-site logistics provided

Eligibility

Open to applicants who are affiliated with a Swedish university or higher education institution, or who otherwise engage in research or artistic practice within the fields of natural science or photography; applicants must be residents in Sweden. Knowledge of flora and fauna and interest in documenting or surveying the island is considered a merit. The residency is not accessibility-adapted and requires comfort staying alone on an island accessible only by boat.
