John Campbell Miles Medal

The John Campbell Miles Medal is an award presented by the GSA Queensland Division, in conjunction with the Queensland Branch of the AIG, to an individual who has made significant contributions to the advancement of economic geology, mineral systems, exploration technology, or the discovery of a major mineral or energy resource within Queensland. The award recognises contributions demonstrated through publications, development or application of innovative exploration technologies, discovery of significant resources, or peer and public acknowledgement. The medal is presented at a divisional meeting and the citation, professional background and photograph of the recipient are published in the Divisional newsletter and The Australian Geologist.

Individuals who have distinguished themselves through significant contributions to economic geology, mineral systems, exploration technology, or the discovery of a major mineral or energy resource within Queensland; contributions must be directly relevant to Queensland. Eligibility is not limited to Australian residents.

Nominations submitted to the GSAQ Divisional Secretary via email with a written justification (which may form the citation); nominations remain current for five years; Award Committee (Divisional committee and awards convenor) decides at a committee meeting.
