Bill Emerson National Hunger Fellowship 2026-27

The Bill Emerson National Hunger Fellowship is a program of the Congressional Hunger Center. It places Fellows with host organizations across the United States for an 11-month period to gain hands-on experience in anti-hunger and anti-poverty work, including research, organizing, advocacy, outreach, and public education. Fellows participate in orientation, field training, and ongoing professional development, and join a network of alumni after completion.

Financial stipend (at least $50,000 over the fellowship), potential tuition discounts for pursuing master’s degrees, membership in a learning community, access to an alumni network, training and leadership development, project management experience; fellows act as independent consultants and are responsible for their own health insurance and taxes.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, have lived experience with hunger and poverty, and have experience working in low-income communities with demonstrated leadership qualities.
