Technical Postdoctoral Fellowships (Vitalik Buterin Postdoctoral Fellowship in AI Existential Safety)

The Technical Postdoctoral Fellowships (including the Vitalik Buterin Postdoctoral Fellowship in AI Existential Safety) fund postdoctoral appointments to conduct research on AI existential safety. Fellows conduct technical research aimed at analyzing and reducing existential risks from advanced AI systems. The program includes mentoring and community events and is run in partnership with the Beneficial AI Foundation.

Annual $80,000 stipend (at universities in the US, UK and Canada); $10,000 research expenses fund; invitations to virtual and in-person events and community interactions.

Postdoctoral appointments for researchers working on AI existential safety. Fellows must confirm agreement to the program's employment-related conditions (including a donation commitment if they take certain industry jobs within two years of completing the fellowship).
