Wonju City of Literature Writers Residency 2026

The Wonju City of Literature Writers Residency 2026 is a fully funded eight-week residency for writers worldwide, hosted at the Toji Cultural Centre in Wonju, South Korea. It aims to support writers in developing their creative projects while engaging with an international literary community. The program is part of the UNESCO Cities of Literature network and offers time, space, and cultural immersion to participants.

Round-trip international airfare, local transportation, free accommodation with private workspace, meals during the residency, and access to cultural and literary events.

Applicants must be writers with at least five years of experience, have at least one published work, be connected to a UNESCO City of Literature (or demonstrate a strong connection), have upper-intermediate English or Korean proficiency, and be willing to participate in literary events and community activities.

Prepare documents (application form, writing portfolio, proof of publications) and submit through the official call via the Cities of Literature network.
