About this opportunity
The Kyoto University Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) Visiting Research Fellowship 2027 offers an opportunity for experienced scholars worldwide to conduct advanced research in Japan while collaborating with leading academics in a highly interdisciplinary environment. About 14 fellowships are awarded each year, allowing 3 to 6 months of residence at Kyoto University with access to extensive academic resources, seminars, and conferences.

Eligibility
Applicants must be established scholars of high academic standing, under 65 years of age (exceptions possible), hold a PhD (or prior approval if not), and not be currently enrolled in a graduate or postdoctoral program. The program is open to professionals such as government officials, journalists, NGO practitioners, and public intellectuals who demonstrate strong research capability and relevance to the program.
