KWI International Fellowships 2026

The KWI International Fellowships 2026 offer an opportunity for early-career researchers to pursue independent research in Germany. Hosted by the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities (KWI) in Essen, the fellowship supports a six-month research period with engagement in seminars and academic activities. Fellows work on a self-designed project and participate in the institute’s scholarly community.

Financial and academic support including stipend, travel reimbursement, office space, research infrastructure, library access, and opportunities to present research and organize academic events.

Eligible applicants are postdoctoral researchers with a PhD, up to six years of postdoctoral experience, working in the humanities, cultural studies, or social sciences, regardless of country of origin.

Submit a complete application package in English including CV, list of publications, PhD certificate, and a research proposal outlining the project to be carried out during the fellowship. Application deadline: 28 February 2026.
