CERN Summer Student Programme 2026

The CERN Summer Student Programme offers a research placement for undergraduate students to work on a technical or scientific project at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland, during the European summer (typically 8–13 weeks). Participants attend lectures, workshops and facility visits and receive a contract of association, a daily subsistence allowance, a travel allowance and health insurance for the duration of their stay.

Bachelor’s or master’s students in physics, engineering, computing or mathematics who are enrolled and have completed at least six semesters by the start of the summer.

Applications are typically opened in November for the next year’s intake, with the deadline often around end of January; apply through CERN in the appropriate track for Member/Non-Member States.
