The UNDP African Academy for Women in Political Leadership 2026 is a four-week, fully funded continental programme designed to build the next generation of women who govern Africa. It combines virtual learning with a residential convening in Kigali, includes mentorship from senior African leaders, and covers political leadership, governance, and applied leadership practice.

Eligibility

Applications are open to women who are currently holding, or credibly pursuing, elected or appointed political office anywhere in Africa.

Nominations from government ministries, political parties, AU member state institutions, civil society organisations, or self-nominations supported by institutional endorsement; requires official nomination/endorsement, CV, and personal statement
