Canada Graduate Research Scholarship – Master’s Program 2026 (Up to 3,298 Awards)

The Canada Graduate Research Scholarship – Master’s Program (CGRS M) 2026 provides a prestigious award to support research-oriented master’s degrees in Canada. It is jointly administered by CIHR, NSERC, and SSHRC and targets graduate students with strong academic and research potential. The program supports both international and domestic students pursuing master’s studies with a significant research component at Canadian institutions with allocations for CGRS M.

Stipend of $27,000 CAD for 12 months; professional development and potential additional supplements for Indigenous or Black student researchers.

Applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or Protected Persons, be enrolled in or applying for full-time admission to a research-oriented master’s program in Canada, have 0–12 months of graduate-level study in the program, hold a first-class average in the last two years of study, and the program must involve significant research.
