Walter Sullivan Award for Excellence in Science Journalism – Features 2026

The Walter Sullivan Award for Excellence in Science Journalism – Features is an annual award recognizing a feature story or series in any medium that makes Earth and space science accessible to non-scientists. The 2026 edition offers a $5,000 prize, an engraved award, recognition in Eos, and travel support to attend AGU’s annual meeting where applicable.

Nominees must be journalists working in any medium (excluding books); they may be a sole author or a team of up to four contributors; authors may be employed in print/electronic publication, broadcast or cable, or be freelance.
