Information

South Africa's Department of Sports, Arts & Culture invites students to apply for the Bursaries Programme for the 2026 academic year. Bursaries are awarded for undergraduate and postgraduate studies within heritage-related programmes, including fields such as anthropology, archaeology, archives and records management, conservation of the built environment, collections management, digital heritage, Indigenous Knowledge Systems, marketing of heritage, museum studies, and palaeontology.

Eligibility

South African citizens who are 40 years old or younger and are pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in one of the listed heritage-related programmes; must be admitted to or registered at an accredited institution; must not be receiving another bursary; must not be currently employed full-time in the private sector, government or state agencies; and must not earn more than R130 000 per annum.
