The University of Manchester is offering the Bicentennial PhD Studentships in the Faculty of Science and Engineering to celebrate 200 years of innovation. The programme supports postgraduate researchers to pursue PhD studies across multiple themes and provides full funding for the duration of the studies. More than 45 fully funded PhD positions are available for the September 2026 intake.

Eligibility

Applicants must have submitted a PhD application by 31 January 2026 for a September 2026 start, hold at least a First Class or 2:1 UK Honours degree (or international equivalent), and ideally possess a Master’s qualification; applicants should demonstrate research potential and secure a formal offer for a place on a PhD programme.

Select a PhD project via the Find A PhD portal, contact the supervisor to discuss suitability, then submit a formal PhD application through the university’s online portal with the project title and supervisor’s name; shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews.
