Hans Böckler Foundation Scholarships 2026 for International Students in Germany

The Hans Böckler Foundation offers international doctoral scholarships for PhD candidates to conduct research in Germany, with emphasis on economics and the humanities/social sciences. The scholarships provide support for foreign PhD students to integrate into the German academic community and access research resources and supervision. Two programs are available in 2026: the Dieter Schumacher International PhD Scholarship (Economics) and the Ute and György Széll International PhD Scholarship (Social Sciences & Humanities).

Monthly stipend, annual travel allowance, professional integration into the German academic community, access to research resources and archives, supervision, and networking opportunities.

Applicants must be foreign PhD candidates enrolled in a PhD program at a recognized institution and demonstrate strong academic qualifications and a research focus aligned with the Foundation’s mission.
