Digital Democracy Hackathon: Prototype Solutions for a Freer Civic Space

The Digital Democracy Hackathon is an innovative program designed to empower civil society in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. It is a design challenge focused on prototyping practical solutions to digital democracy issues, organized by the Metamorphosis Foundation and the Civic Literacy Initiative in partnership with CIVICUS, as part of the global Digital Democracy Initiative. The program aims to develop working prototypes that can be tested and refined with real user communities, addressing challenges such as combating disinformation and enhancing digital security.

Sub-grant of $8,000; all-expenses-paid trip to Bangkok (1-5 November 2025); expert mentorship before, during, and after the hackathon; access to a regional network of civic tech practitioners.

Open to civil society organizations and informal activist teams based in Eastern Europe and Central Asia; teams must have at least two committed members.
