Information

The Edinburgh Award for Flash Fiction is a competition inviting writers from around the world to submit short stories of up to 250 words on any theme. Prizes include substantial cash awards, a publication opportunity, and membership benefits, with a final event at the Flash Bash in Edinburgh for shortlisted entrants. The top entries may be included in an anthology and receive recognition within the Scottish arts community.

Benefits

First prize £2,000; second prize £500; third prize £250; Golden Hare Award £500; Write Mango Award £300; five £100 commendations; publication for the top 20 stories; one-year free membership in the Scottish Arts Club for prize winners.

Eligibility

Open to writers worldwide, published and unpublished, aged 16 and older. Submissions must be in English and suitable for an adult audience.

Application

Submit entries between 1 June and 31 August 2024 with a £10 fee per entry, unless applying via the bursary scheme for free entry; details available on the official website.
