Information

A funded doctoral fellowship programme in fundamental physics based at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) and administered by the Mainz Physics Academy (MPA) within the PRISMA++ Cluster of Excellence. It supports PhD research in particle, hadron, nuclear, astroparticle and related physics fields and is open internationally. Selected fellows receive an employment-style research contract, individual travel and research funds, and access to MPA training and activities. The programme runs regular calls (two per year).

Eligibility

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in physics (preferably particle/low-energy/hadron/nuclear physics or a related field), demonstrate outstanding academic performance, provide two reference letters via the official referee form, show research alignment and identify a potential supervisor, and meet English requirements (B2 certificate if prior instruction was not in English). Open to all nationalities.
