Royal Academy of Engineering United Kingdom 2026

Information

An annual award presented by the Royal Academy of Engineering that recognises excellence among early‑career engineers in the UK. Each year the Academy makes five awards of £3,000 to UK engineers in full‑time higher education, research or industrial employment who are within ten years of their first engineering degree. From those five awardees an overall winner is selected and receives the Sir George Macfarlane Medal in addition to the cash award. For 2026 nominations and self‑applications are invited.

Eligibility

UK engineers in full‑time higher education, research or industrial employment who received their first engineering degree (or equivalent) less than 10 years before 14 October 2025; both nominations and self‑applications are accepted.

Application

Entries may be submitted by nomination or by self-application; awardees are selected by the Academy’s Awards Committee.
