Information

The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) supports outstanding graduate students pursuing full-time research-based master's and doctoral degrees in STEM fields, including STEM education. The program recruits and supports individuals who demonstrate potential to make significant contributions in science and engineering. It offers recognition and support early in graduate study. The fellowship is administered by the U.S. National Science Foundation.

Benefits

$37,000 annual stipend and a $16,000 education allowance per year, provided for up to three years.

Eligibility

At the time of submission, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident; intend to enroll or be enrolled full-time in an eligible research-based master's or doctoral degree program in an eligible STEM field; never have previously accepted a Graduate Research Fellowship; and have completed less than one academic year in a graduate degree program. Eligible statuses include final-year undergraduates, bachelor’s degree-holders with no graduate enrollment, and early-stage graduate students.
